About

I’m Heather Zankman, the founder of Web Clarity & Confidence and your go-to for all things web strategy.

I’ve spent the last decade working as a copywriter and website strategist learning all the “webby" things so you don’t have to.

The Professional Scoop

  • 10+ years of professional communications experience

  • 5+ years of dedicated website communications

  • Bachelor’s degrees in English and creative writing

  • On my way to becoming a certified UX professional

I’ve been at the table for numerous, award-winning website redesigns and content strategy projects, and there’s not a single messy website or topic I don’t have fun making sense of.

I currently manage a Webby©-honored website (think the Emmys for websites!) for a private liberal arts university where every day is spent strategizing and writing for varied audiences and complex topics. I’ve supported many industries, including government, finance, sustainability, education, housing, and healthcare. I even spent a year working in London (just me and my cat) with a global infrastructure investment company. My diverse portfolio truly spans the gamut—from J.K. Rowling’s neurology clinic (it’s awesome!), complex finance/construction models, “uni” housing on the coast of Wales, and guides to help military families stay safe during hurricanes.

But don’t let the years of academia- and corporate-focused experiences fool you. These unique experiences and creative pursuits have uniquely positioned me to help passionate, mission-driven businesses like yours.

  • I can write clearly and effectively about virtually anything. I know the questions to ask and how to do the research to fill in the gaps.

  • I’m technically- and communications-minded, so I can make sure your site is built with UX, SEO, and accessibility best practices in mind without overcomplicating things or making your headache.

I can work with anyone, but I want to work with mission-driven small businesses and change-makers like you.

I’m proud of my job experiences, but my career trajectory hasn’t always been easy. As a millennial who graduated during the recession and whose first two jobs dissolved because of it, I’ve been sucker-punched quite a few times when it comes to my career. That’s why I’m passionate about helping others thrive in their own business on their terms.

Bringing clarity and confidence to your website strategy so you can thrive as a small business owner professionally, financially, and emotionally is why I do what I do.

Just Because Facts

  • I’ve been processing UX concepts since I was a kid. You couldn’t get me to clean my room—but finding 17 ways to organize my CDs and VHS tapes? I’m on it! When tasked to figure out lunch for playdates (my goodness, I can’t believe my friends put up with this), I would lay out every single option to determine the best possible solution to accommodate the greater good. Weigh all the choices. Consider all the preferences. Open ALL of the cabinets. (Sorry, Mom.)

  • Introspection is my middle name (not really, it was Nicole before I was married). I’m always learning and can’t get enough of self-exploration. (INFP Mediator/Idealist and Enneagram 9, IYKYK)

  • My husband proposed over a cuppa Yogi tea in a stranger’s living room (thanks, Airbnb!).

  • I live outside of Philadelphia, but once lived in a tiny London flat on a cobblestone street.

  • I never say no to a new hobby and am currently teaching myself to knit, rekindling my romance with writing and art, and learning to read astro charts. (I am a Leo Sun, Taurus Moon, and Aquarius Rising.)

Meet My Kits (kids+cats).

One of my favorite dinner convos is assigning kitty superlatives with my husband, Mike. Can you guess which one is the neediest?
